Designing and implementing research to guide decision makers in balancing the sometimes conflicting demands for critical resources has been the focus of Dr. Manheim's career.

Dr. Manheim earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Water Resources, Public Policy, and Research at Cornell University. Her work has included water policy and economic development research at the community, state, national and international level. Because the economic development components of these projects often incorporate tourism, her research has also included issues of tourism, coastal beach erosion, and impacts of airport terminal expansion, cultural and land resource management plans.

She is a member of the American Planning Association, Business Enterprise for Sustainable Tourism Education Network ( BEST en).


Effective business decision-making is founded on objective research and the accurate translation of data and into usable knowledge. Developing and implementing valid and unbiased research studies to assist academicians and organizations in their decision-making processes has been the foundation of Dr. Boyd’s career.

Paul earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Social Systems Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania (the Wharton School). Since then, he has been involved in a variety of marketing and public policy research projects, including policy research for Fortune 100 companies and a large-scale public study of telecommuting. He has served as a Research Director for a pioneering Web-based marketing research firm.

In addition to his work in research design, analysis, and project management, Dr. Boyd is a member of the faculty at Johnson & Wales University, where he teaches research, analysis, and marketing courses for the MBA program.

He is a member of the Eastern Academy of Management, the Academy of Management, the American Marketing Association, and the Market Research Association.


Designing the optimal research tool and synthesizing quantitative data to answer key questions for public and private sector decision makers has been Karla’s research focus for the past 10 years.

Karla earned her Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan. As a consultant, she has designed and directed analytic research projects in the areas of consumer segmentation, brand equity and architecture, concept development, product and service marketing, and energy conservation for Fortune 100 companies and government agencies.

Most recently, Karla served as a Director at an international research firm based in London, England. In addition to her professional responsibilities, she is also an Adjunct Professor in Research & Analysis at the graduate level.
